Overview of Noun Declension
First declension nouns typically end in -a in the nominative singular.
They are mostly feminine but include a few masculine nouns.
Example (puella, puellae f. - girl)
Singular Endings
Nominative: -a
Genitive: -ae
Dative: -ae
Accusative: -am
Ablative: -ā
Singular
Nominative: puella (the girl)
Genitive: puellae (of the girl)
Dative: puellae (to/for the girl)
Accusative: puellam (the girl, direct object)
Ablative: puellā (by/with/from the girl)
Plural Endings
Nominative: -ae
